Gimmicks Productions produced the Indian commercial for the “Boom Boom Pow Festa” campaign for LG XBOOM, an ambitious global initiative. Shot on a palace set on the outskirts of Mumbai, this campaign brought together authentic street musicians from around the world.

During pre-production, Gimmicks Productions scouted talent and coordinated self-tapes from over 40 bands across India, ultimately the clients selected Alo The Band, a renowned experimental rock group from Kolkata. Alo’s performance featured a translated Hindi rendition of “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas, enhanced by a Bengali rap that added a unique regional twist to this global project.

The campaign was filmed on the iPhone 15 Pro using four distinct camera setups to capture dynamic visuals. The objective was to showcase authentic street musicians and blend various music genres from global markets. Musicians were cast based on their cultural relevance and social media influence.

Reflecting LG XBOOM’s celebration of musical diversity, the campaign highlighted genres such as Bossa Nova from Brazil, Pan Pipe from Peru, Mariachi from Mexico, Indian Sufi Folk Rock, Marabi Jazz from South Africa, Turkish Folk Music from Turkey, Pinoy Rock from the Philippines, Flamenco from Spain, Punk from the United Kingdom, Jazz from the United States creating a vibrant tapestry of global sounds.

Gimmicks Productions ensured a seamless production process, delivering a campaign that truly captured the essence of LG XBOOM and celebrated the voices of street musicians worldwide. The project concluded on schedule, with the final visuals showcasing how LG’s sound technology amplifies the spirit of street music across the globe.

This was a unique project shot remotely, with the director and production crew coordinating via video conference from the US with the team at Gimmicks Production in India, throughout the 10 week schedule. This included behind-the-scenes shots at a studio in Kolkata and final filming on a set in Mumbai. Everything came together beautifully with perfectly coordinated production.
